While they don't work under water, i believe a screen protector, zip lock bag, or a layer of cellophane foil should be enough to reduce errors caused by water drops, and is still letting enough energy through, to work on a touch.
I often took my cellphone in a zip lock bag, being soaked in the rain, on my bike rides, and still could use the touch screen.
