No. There is not a single self-published book that is worth reading. Anything worthwhile has been picked up by the BPH, with other traditional publishers getting the dregs. Then, finally, the dregs of the dregs that can't get a "real" publisher make their way to Amazon's glorified vanity press. After all, how can Amazon compete with the generous terms and conditions offered by the BPH? They care so much for authors that they are practically charities! Yes, they charge higher prices, but I'm sure it all goes to the authors!
And honestly, what was Amazon thinking? Making publishing and distributing a book so easy and cheap that now everyone can do it, and virtually everyone does? Surely they must have realised that eliminating the benevolent but firm stewardship of the BPH would be catastrophic for culture!
No. Nothing worthwhile here. I recommend that you stick to the BPH and leave the Indie and self-published stuff to the unwashed masses who don't know any better and couldn't afford it if they did.
