One that is now traditional published: Blood Song by Anthony Ryan. It is one of the best fantasy books of the last years. The other two books in the series (when hew was trad pubed) are sadly not that good (I don't think they are that bad, but Blood Song was so much better). Blood Song can be read as a stand alone at least kind of. I would recommend doing so, if you like fantasy.

The above is a book that can be compared to the very best in trad pub. I would bet, there are many indie books at least as good as for example all these DnD books, Star Wars etc.
