FWIW -- the ONLY way I've found to successfully combat the 'snackier' tendency .... particularly at night ... is to NOT buy any snack food and NOT bring any home. Late night foraging safaris can overcome any amount of resolve ... you just don't care when it's 11:00 pm and you want to finish the chapter you're reading .... and you're hungry ...
If that fails, only keep Triscuits in the house ... it's almost impossible to binge on Triscuits ...
