You may be confused about what I'm asking. I'm not asking anything about why they might choose to close an account, only the effects such a closure will have.

Amazon made a public statement in 2012 that content would be accessible. And now Amazon Customer Service are saying the opposite.

I think it's reasonable to ask for clarification.
