As I was reading back through this thread I found this and couldn't help but think that that's exactly what Kobo did - they found old devices and cleared them out. I'm curious now being that they said it was a "software error". Did all US buyers get the "demo" unit with red back cover and did Canadians get the newer model with the grey sleepcover?
