Solar panels is a good one. I think it wouldn't need much. The Touch case with the light could draw power from the Kindle through the contacts on the back. Maybe a Kindle could have such contacts to be recharged when in its case; the front of the case could have a solar panel in it. It would be charged by just putting the Kindle on a table during the day.

I've never worn out a button on any device within its useful lifespan. This includes rhythm start/stop and fill-in buttons on arranger keyboards. You sometimes hit those buttons 10+ times within one song of 4 minutes. That is WAY more than you'd ever press the Kindle's on/off button.
