Okay, that makes sense. I've tried the TTS on my Inkpad, and it never crashed, but I didn't test many files with it. I can believe that some PDF files would be problematic.

P.S. PDF is more concerned with how a document is displayed than anything else. Even though you see standard text being displayed, it does not mean that there is standard text within the document. The text may be in an image, or the characters may be drawn using individual painting instructions (so that the document doesn't know that it is text being drawn), or the individual characters in a word can be placed individually for better kerning (thus breaking the words into little parts), or the words can be placed in the correct positions but in non-sequential order, or ... Any of these will break TTS.

I tested the PDF User Manual that comes with the Inkpad, and the TTS worked okay on it. I also tested my old graduate scientific theses, and TTS was horrible on it. It seemed to run into all of the problems I mentioned above.
