Sherlockian.net is a little imprecise. They say "expired in Canada in 1980" which is not quite true. The copyright expired in Canada when the first second of 1st January 1981 arrived.

They also say "in the United Kingdom expired at the end of the year 2000" which is similarly not quite true for the same reason.

Copyright in life+ countries exists until the end of the year of the 50th/70th/whatever anniversary of the death.
