The aristocrats were still present in France at that time.
French Revolution from 1789 cut down their numbers.
The name "DePriest" does not seem like an aristocrat's name, though.
"Priest" is not a french word, even if we have something like 23 towns called Saint-Priest or approaching.
One of them is in the suburbs of Lyon, 10 mins from where I live.
