A bunch more US Kindle Countdown deals - mostly repeats, but a couple new to me, at least...

Note that Endeavour Press (a couple of these) seems to have re-uploaded many of their titles, so if you've previously purchased them, it may not be obvious, so check carefully.

Crooked Man is the first in the Tubby Dubonnet series by Tony Dunbar, at $0.99 for about one more day

The FIRST offbeat mystery in the TUBBY DUBONNET series by Anthony- and Edgar-nominated author Tony Dunbar
If a gym bag of cash fell into your hands, what would you do to keep it?
A simple man with a refined palate, maverick New Orleans lawyer Tubby Dubonnet has a penchant for fishing, Old Fashioneds, off-track betting, and fighting evil while passing a good time.

His clients are all renegades from the asylum (aka Orleans Parish), including a transvestite entertainer, a buxom deadbeat blonde, a doctor who refers his own patients to a malpractice lawyer, and a Mardi Gras reveler who drives a float shaped like a giant crawfish pot. He also has his hands full with an ex-wife and three teenage daughters, who are experts in the art of wrapping Tubby around their little fingers. And somehow, between work and family, Tubby finds time to sample the highs and lows of idiosyncratic Crescent City cuisine, from trout meuniere amandine and French roast coffee with chicory to shrimp po-boys and homemade pecan pralines.

Tubby's new client is Darryl Alvarez, the manager of a local nightclub who's been caught unloading marijuana from a shrimp boat. At their first meeting, Darryl entrusts Tubby with an ordinary-looking blue gym bag. But after Darryl's unfortunate demise, Tubby realizes he must tighten his grasp on the gym bag -- and its million-dollar contents.

Tubby can’t just give up the cash. But if he gets caught, he’ll be in jail. And if the wrong people catch him, he’ll wish he was.

Fruits of the Poisonous Tree and Bellows Falls are both titles in the Joe Gunther series by Archer Mayor. They are at $1.99 and $2.99 respectively, for almost four more days. Flat Crazy by Ben Rehder is at $0.99 for about 5 1/2 more days. All of these titles were on Countdown a while back at the same time - looks as if he might be cycling through them now, so if you want these but missed them before, you might keep an eye out.
Spoiler:
Quote:
"You'd have to be Flat Crazy to miss a Ben Rehder book. This guy is the funniest, freshest voice in Texas mystery writing today."
—Rick Riordan, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Lightning Thief

Flat Crazy:
An unidentified wild creature is on the loose in Blanco County, and, over the protests of game warden John Marlin, the locals have convinced themselves they're dealing with a mythical vampirish beast called a chupacabra. It doesn't help Marlin's cause when a dead body turns up with a fang-like wound in its neck. Then things really get out of hand: tabloid news programs invade Blanco, good old boys Red O'Brien and Billy Don Craddock develop a cockamamie get-rich-quick scheme involving the animal, and everyone is a little surprised at the booming population of voluptuous Chinese dwarves who've turned up in town. If anyone can make sense of the strange events, it's John Marlin, who's well-versed in the intricacies of small-town life, Texas style. But can he do it before another body turns up?

One False Step by Joseph Flynn is at $0.99 for about 6 1/2 more days. This is a sort of self-pub by Flynn, who has been both traditionally published and self-published through his own Stray Dog Press, but I've read many books of his, both traditional and self-pubbed, and enjoyed them all, so I'm listing this one.

Two cops…
Bibi Ferrer, San Diego homicide, receives a warning: Billionaire Anson Williams, will be done in by his new wife, Alexandra. Despite her best efforts, Bibi fails to prevent Williams’ death. Worse, she can’t prove Alexandra is the killer. All she can do is follow Alexandra to her Caribbean lair, the island of St. Bertram.
Things are even more personal for retired Chicago police captain Terry Dunne. His younger brother is killed by a contract assassin. His only clue: The hit-man might have unfinished business waiting for him on St. Bertram.
Two killers . . .
Avice Toussaint, formerly Alexandra Williams, isn’t every man’s idea of a knockout—only those with a pulse. She’s bored with luring wealthy men to their deaths. Problem is, her father wants her to continue. He’s ex-KGB. He kills people who defy him, no exceptions made for family.
George Beecher was an SAS commando, a master of combat. He was far less suited to following orders. After his court martial and discharge from the military, he continued to do the only thing he knew how: kill people. This time for money.
One plan . . .
Bibi and Terry cross paths. Not wanting to alert their prey, they decide to shadow each other’s killer. Get the goods on the killers and see that justice is done.
It’s a plan…but when do those things ever work out?

Spoiler:
Quote:
1974. Whistler's Lane is haunted.

When a gypsy tells Sophie Woodburn her future, she doesn’t believe a word of it.

The woman predicts dark strangers and violent death in her path.

She warns Sophie “The time wheel spins — your past is tomorrow, your future yesterday...beware of yesterday”.

Sophie and her boyfriend, Jake Petersen, laugh off the incident.

But magical things are stirring, and dark forces are threatening to emerge from the shadows of the past...

When Sophie's aunt, Beryl Latimer, falls near her house, breaking her ankle, on the mysterious road of Whistler's Lane, Sophie goes to aid her recovery.

But something is drawing her to this mystical place, something more than her aunt, a connection to the past Sophie doesn't yet understand...

When staying in the village of Pendlemere, Sophie learns of the bloody history of Whistler's Lane, how Richard Whitaker and Lizzie Earnshaw, mercurial lovers, met their untimely deaths there and started a chain of violent murders.

Some say that Richard can be seen, ghost form, riding down Whistler's Lane, in dark winter nights...

Fainting dizzy spells and violent dreams torture Sophie as she tries to piece together the puzzle of the past, learning about the scandal of the murdered wife of Ben Starling, the handsome but dark and brooding farmer who lives nearby.

Though he was acquitted of his wife Dinah's murder, the rest of the village believe he is guilty and continue to give him a wide berth.

Sophie is drawn to Ben, but something tells her he cannot be trusted.

As her powers grow stronger, and the past threatens to overtake the present, will Sophie be able to cope with the murderous path of Whistler's Lane?
