It is not exactly uncommon for
new members (and people who posted here
once, several years ago) to make this mistake. Not everyone stops to think about copyright issues before asking for help, and while I agree they
should, in an
optimal world, the fact is, people don't.
That may be thoughtless, but apparently it is a rather common form of thoughtless, which is hardly grounds for idiocy...
Everyone deserves the right to make this mistake
once.
That is why, generally speaking, when they do, a moderator deletes the attachment, points out the rule, and politely but firmly says something along the lines of "don't do this again. Deliberate flaunting of the rules is grounds for an immediate and permanent ban, so consider this your official warning".
