Even before side-loading apps I noticed the battery life is not as good as on my NG.
After side-loading it doesn't seem like it became worse, but it's still early for me too tell.
However: it depends a lot on the apps that you installed. If there is one that's not optimized (properly) then it will use too much CPU thus using too much battery.
Your example suggests something like that. I'm not sure if we can look at power usage stats on the NGP. They would show the culprit. Alternatively you can uninstall all the apps, observe/confirm that the battery life went back to normal, and then start installing back the apps, one by one, observing changes to battery life.
