Google's Play Store must not be "blocked"

Apparently, using Android app's such as "Noroot Firewall" to block Google Play Store will interfere with the licensing of the paid version and you cannot connect to Calibre on your desktop PC. (Some expert will correct this posting if I'm not getting this right.)

That is, those of us who try to control which of our app's communicate over the Internet and when, must be sure to unblock Play Store before using Calibre Companion.
