Getting in under the wire, but Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons is creepy as hell on many levels. You kind of need some context for accepting it as an artifact of the '80s (problematic racial issues harkening back to the immediate post-WWII era), but all that nonsense contributes to the alienating horror.
