When we finally looked at a Kindle in our local supermarket we purchased on the spot.
Sony eReader was sold on almost unused, Kindle hardly ever out of wife's hand, first basic Kindle, then PW1 followed by PW2 and now KV. Fab devices to read from and that's all that really counts in the end.

The Sony PRS-950 remains my all time favorite design for an eInk reader. Wider 7" screen that could display two columns of text in landscape mode. Well built with metal body, thin, sleek design with narrow bezel. The buttons were not well thought out as far as where they were located though. But I agree, the Sony FW sucked and the fact that I could not sync multiple readers or with the computer without a LOT of effort sucked even worse. But the PRS-950 was expensive. I think it cost $400 back then. Sony thought we would always pay for top quality, but that wasn't the case since they struggled to sell their readers.
