When I joined it was discountable. I paid 6.50 for the year and got a free book (that was actually on my wish list) that would have been more than 6.50 even with the best coupon I had at the time.

I was lucky in that the list of free books had a lot of cozy mysteries. There's supposed to be a free book every year, although the list might not always be as good for me as this year's. I changed the setting on my account to not automatically renew anyway.
