And that is the thing that is not clear to me in any way. Favorites can ring the phone, but can they cause sound notifications for their text messages and email? Seems to me that would be the logical way for it to work, but Apple is not always logical. If you allow calls to ring, why wouldn't you allow sound notifications from these contacts as well? Seems to me that allowing Favorites to override Do Not Disturb should allow all types of contact from those contacts. Why on earth would you want to allow the ringer for calls but block sound notifications from the same contacts when they text or email you? Questions are directed at Apple, BTW.

I agree. It may not be logical, but I don't think it's a bug. If you look at the language within the settings it says "allow calls from" whereas elsewhere in the settings it specifies "calls and alerts." They should allow the option to select whether you want to allow calls, alerts, or "calls and alerts."
