Or at least, only connect for less time than it takes an update to download -- and if that book doesn't download, bail the heck out and just sideload it.
Of course, as I said in the other thread, sideloading is a perfectly adequate solution, so why risk even marginal chances of getting hit by an OTA?
It is a mere assumption (a fairly safe one, but still) that updates will continue to be in the hundreds of MB.
