Agreed. That's why I bought the NGP in the first place. I could have bought a PW3 or a Kobo Glo HD. If/when there's a rooting process in place that doesn't require opening up the device, I'll feel better about it. It's no problem. It's a matter of expectations.
After I got myself very frustrated with the Onyx and Boyue devices, I realized there is not such thing as a perfect device and scaled my expectations back. Gave up on presence of SD card slot, more memory, USB hosting, bluetooth, audio, etc (they had all that but the screen was horrible and maybe some other issues) and NSTG is still my favorite reader, mostly for the way the display shows the text
but moved on to NG to have a bit more resolution and now to NGP to have water-proofness ...
