Holding the power button down doesn't reset anything. It does an ordered shutdown of the device. When it is complete, you should have a "Powered off" message on the screen. And the surrounds of the cover image will be black rather than white.

I think I mentioned that. I was referring to accidental touches. There has been problems in the past that if something touched the screen as the device went to sleep, it didn't sleep properly and drained the battery. But, that was quite a while ago and hasn't been reported with any firmware the Glo HD has used.
