Mobipocket Creator cannot read .lit files--just HTML, Word, Text or PDF. The nice thing about AmberLit is that it can do batch conversions (helpful when you have several hundred files to do--unfortunately, I've converted all of the .lit files I had using that).
I'm attaching a .prc file that I converted over from AmberLit Converter to this message.
