You're not the only one expressing this sentiment. I did it this way last year and it worked out quite well; but that doesn't mean it has to be that way this year. My reasoning for just one thread was to keep the deals together. Two threads tend to fragment the deals with the potential for missing a deal or creating unnecessary duplication.
I realize that Black Friday is primarily a US event, but it's also safe to say that most of the deals posted in his thread are from US stores. Black Friday was once a one to three day shopping event. That's no longer the case. Thanks to the explosion of online shopping, pretty much any sale during the months of Nov and Dec are Black Friday related in one way or another. Additionally, these sales are frequently open to non-US residents.
There are several options for handling this:
- one thread (Tablets & eReaders) running from Jan to Oct, followed by a second thread (Black Friday) running from Nov to Dec --> current system
-or-- two separate threads during Nov & Dec --> Tablets & eReaders and Black Friday
-or-- one year round thread (Tablets & eReaders) w/ Black Friday emphasis during Nov & Dec
I'll leave this open for additional feedback to see what members would prefer.
