Html to Mobi

When adding a .html file can I get Calibre to only look for content in one folder up?

I'm trying to convert 8 years of posts from a website from .html to .mobi. I've used sitesucker to download the content, but the folder hierarchy it downloaded looks like:

folder - year
folder - month
folder - numbered posts within that month

When trying to add an index file from one of the individual posts with the month calibre sticks on "Reading metadata and adding to library (1 books)." Yet, when I move an index file (and folder directly above with its content) outside of the directory structure that sitesucker downloaded it will then convert quick and well in Calibre. I'm guessing what is happening is when trying to add an .html file that's within this hierarchy of year/month/individual post that calibre is looking for content in all folders above and hangs. Any suggestions? Please discuss
