The receiver can glued on the back of the device, but the miniUSB cord must be plugged in and the port will be opened, unless if someone can sealed permanently the port/cord with silicone and stays that way, losing the ability to reset or changing the SD card...
The receiver I used has a flat ribbon cable that could be laid on the edge of the compartment and the rubber plug seal around it. You might need to put a slight notch in the plug's edge. (Or the edge of the compartment.) If that works, you could still open the compartment and change the SD card or even unplug the receiver and use a USB cable if you needed. You might want to put a dab of silicon on the receiver cable where it touches the edge of the compartment, so it seals as well as the rubber plug would.
