I too use my 770 primarily for reading; I read about the device here and other places and expected that it probably wouldn't be acceptable due to screen size, however on a lark went down to CompUSA and actually held one; after seeing the screen and realizing that I could actually *read* everything I immediately bought one.

FBReader is good, although it doesn't seem to like RTFs with embedded images-- or at least I can only get about 1/2 way through a 3.5Mb "Indistinguishable from Magic" by Robert L Forward in RTF before it crashes; this is the only RTF I've got that has embedded images, and all others work fine.

I generally don't use the PDF viewer. I suspect the PDFs I would prefer to access are too large (eg JBoss documentation at several hundred pages, and several megs in size) since actually accessing them seems to be very slow compared to FBReader.

I'm actually quite pleased with the battery life-- I end up charging every few days, although I probably am only able to actually read for about 2 - 3 hrs a day on it. I did spring for a second AC Adaptor so that I could have one at home and at the office.

While having a larger display would be nice, for portable reading I'm happy with the display. I do enjoy being able to read one-handed, and if it gets too much larger/heavier that might become an issue.

My only major issue with it is that it is an LCD, so I'm staring into a light to read-- I was hoping for an e-ink device, but at less than 1/2 the price of the iLiad (I bought mine for $299 + tax) with a color display I'm very happy.

Specifically, I've not read a printed book (other than tech manuals) since I bought my nokia 770 a month ago.
