Yeah, I was transferred 5x finally to a person who understood what I was asking and that was their answer. I asked on the Kindle support forums and the only response so far was "you can't do that on a Kindle."
The Kindle support person said it was a great idea and he would personally forward it to their development team, though, so that's good. /s
