Just finished Timescape by Gregory Benford, a multiple award winning SF novel about communicating back in time to try to avoid an eco-catastrophe. I kind of liked it, but found it a bit weird. The premise is laid out right from the start, and then we just follow the daily lives of a few characters while the SF unfolds in the background without any real surprises. I was constantly expecting something new to crop up.
After that I started The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell, which I picked up recently as a daily deal. There's a BBC TV adaptation starting in a few days, and I always prefer to read the book first (although I don't know how much or which parts of the book series are being covered). Enjoying it so far, as the Danes conquer their way across England.
