The exact same thing applies to Kindle devices

the Cloud view is sorted by recently
viewed.
The fact that books are automatically downloaded to the device when you buy it merely means you need to stop relying on the direct-to-device-purchase integration as a convenient way to see recently-purchased.
And I can't rely on that anyway, since I am liable to read books in between purchasing and connecting my Kindle to the computer.

You can set Kindle for PC as your default device when purchasing from the website.
