Thanks Harry and Mort1997. I think it needs new battery... well, to be exact both my Kindles show this symptom now regardless of having case on or not. I'll fix it. A question though: my Kindle is in pristine condition, no scratches or scuffs on it. Is there anyway to open the battery cover with least harm (which is to say without leaving nicks and scuffs around the openings etc.) From what it looks like on disassembly videos, it's a bit tough for spudger to get in there.

I'm happy I'll stick with my K3 for more reading. I don't know about you, but everything about it makes sense... (for my needs)

I truly truly hope Amazon will get TTS back on KV2 but it's absolutely unlikely given this FCC agreement at least till 2016. I have tried all Paperwhites and Touch based Kindles (after KT) but because of lack of TTS, they're worthless to me, and it's very unfortunate.
