You can use a fake email (or rather, a throwaway email) to create an Amazon account, too. No need to setup payments on a Kindle, either.


The difference is that Kobo requires you to make a fake account (or manipulate the SQL of the database) in order to get past the turning-it-on stage.
Kindles do not, but require it for "advanced" features like collections.
