I want to be able to mark a book as read on my Kindle Voyage. I'd love to be able to put read books in a separate collection but that doesn't seem to be possible without registering. I have Calibre but don't see a way to do it there either.
I don't find the reading progress dots useful because they get reset at times, and are hard to read at a glance.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
p.s. It really annoys me when a product is intentionally crippled like the KV is with collections. If there's no way for me to manage eBooks without registering it I'll just find another ereader that's more user-friendly and sell the KV.

Unfortunately no. There is no way that I'm aware of to create collections on a deregistered kindle. You can manage collection with Calibre and a jailbroken firmware, but if you're going that far, you might as well register the darn thing.
I was going to leave it at that but for the sake of my sanity I have to ask...because honestly, I'm having a little trouble here. You have
intentionally crippled an
Amazon device by not registering it with
Amazon.com and then you pin any limitations that
Amazon has placed on an
Amazon device as a fault of the
Amazon ereader, when all of the advanced functions are, in fact, available if you would just register this
Amazon device on
Amazon.com.
Has the device been blacklisted? Is that why you can't register it?
