Hmmm. I run in debug pretty much all the time, so I tried it without and it still worked fine for me. But I'm running on Windows and MacOS is definitely a different beast.

I remember at least one user having troubles with adding new books because their drive was full, but that should be more noticeable.

If you really want to try and figure this out, I suggest that you try (without debug) downloading each of those stories as individual books to see if it's one of them specifically that's a problem. Then try manually merging them with EpubMerge.

Also, try downloading other AO3 series as anthologies to see if it happens with them.

Another approach is to remove stories from the anthology download as another way to see if it's a specific story causing problems.

OTOH, if you have your download and don't care beyond that, feel free to go on with life.
