Perhaps it's the difference between the real leather and the pleather covers. I have the black real leather, no scuffing at all, and really like it with one exception. When the screensaver starts, the button on the back is covered by the front cover when it's used as an easel, so hard to access. I solved this by putting a little "bumpon" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o03_s00 on the recessed button. A small piece of stick on felt works, too. Now I just squeeze the corner of the case where the button is to turn off the screensaver and read again, no need to pull the front cover away from the back.
