Apologies to Murg, I didn't intend to hijack this thread, but apparently some damage has been already done
To rectify this, I have now created a separate thread, where I invite you to share any ideas about further development an would no longer respond within this thread.
With regard to malware fearmongering - if I developed some malware, wouldn't I better off selling it to the criminals/NSA/GCHQ/... rather than infecting few random bookworms? The link to my other website, which is in a more mature state thanks to input from a photo enthusiasts community, was intended to give you more overview of what the Kobo firmware check website could eventually become. But if you feel that this is an unfair promotion (the other site is not-for-profit as well), let it be.
