I think that some of the notification problems might be a level of confusion as to what is the active device at a given time. I have gotten notifications on my iPhone, Apple Watch, iPads and iMac. I seem to be a lot more likely to get the appropriate notifications when I'm away from home and have my iPads set to airplane mode. That means that the only device that is in range of my iPhone is my Apple Watch. If the iPhone is currently active, I usually get the notification there, if it's not, then I get the notification on my Apple Watch. But sometimes, I don't get any notification at all. It's odd. |
It's definitely an iOS9 issue. I get notifications with 100% reliability on my iPad Air 2, which is still running whatever the last version of iOS8 was. I got notifications with 100% reliability on my iPhone 6 until I upgraded it from iOS8 to iOS9. It's definitely the upgrade that's caused the problem, as many other people have also experienced. It's not a show-stopper, but it is irritating.
