The first gen Nook is actually a pretty beastly machine and has stood the test of time. The major issues users are facing now are issues with the battery. Even at 50$ you're still getting around 30% of your money back based on the lowest selling price BN had for the HDs. You're getting significantly less for the original Nook. Though for the Simple Touch, NSTG, and Glowlight you're getting substantially more.
