Thanks for the clarification, but to be honest, I’m not used to this kind of behaviour so I’m confused as to how it’s default or expected

If I start up my computer and click on a .txt file, how many documents are open? Just one. Yes, if I had launched TextEdit, and then gone to open my file, I would have ended up with two. That’s what I understand as mac default.

At any rate, I think that way is better. If I open up a file to edit, why would I want a blank epub lurking in the background? To save me the trouble of opening one if I need one later? Frankly I would call it a bug, because it’s far more likely to be an annoyance than a help.
