Yeah, the on-demand through our recently-upgraded DirectTV equipment is pretty impressive. I'm not sure DTV is really worth what I'm paying, but every time we seriously discuss getting rid of it, we change our minds, so I guess it must me.
We have access to a friend's Hulu Plus account...he leaves one of our devices connected so we can watch some of his favorites when he vists...but we almost never use it ourselves. The few times I wanted a show I thought should be on Hulu, it hasn't been there. Like the season premier of CSI: Cyber, which was stupidly delayed because of a stupid football game, so my DVR missed it*, I figured it be on Hulu the next day, but nope.

*Stupid football! You know, DirecTV specialized in NFL coverage, you'd think they could develop a way to know when a game goes long and update our DVR schedule!
