Still, I can't wait for the day when a new screen technology comes along that combines the advantage of e-ink (readable in bright sunlight, front-light, low power consumption) with the advantages of LCD's (color, fast refresh rate).
One day, both e-ink and 'normal' LCD's will be supplanted by such a screen. As soon as this happens, and a 7-8 inch reader with such a screen appears, illustrations and graphics will become usable in e-books. (They are now, on tablets, but not on e-readers.) Then, the need for paper books will have dwindled to collector's items.
Maybe Amazon is already working on this, since they have acquired Liquavista.
