Nope. The PW2 never had the same complaints.
And the PW3 has been out for some time by now -- also without those incessant complaints.
When I said "when the Paperwhite first came out", I really did mean the entire Paperwhite line, not just the PW1 -- if I'd meant the PW1 specifically, I would've said so.
