Amazon has had requests from customers for years to get their video everywhere including on Apple and Google products. That was misleading by Amazon at best to make it sound like they were shut out by Apple and Google. They could have had Amazon Video on the Chromecast 2 years ago when it was first released. Google has an open API for developing for the Chromecast:
https://developers.google.com/cast/ . The only reason Amazon did not have an app for Chromecast was Amazon didn't want to.

They would have stopped selling it long ago if customer problems was the case. The truth is Amazon is shutting out competing products. They want to lock people into their ecosystem. If they only sold hardware and software like Apple, that would be fine. But they are selling themselves as the retailer who sells "everything". If they are shifting that focus to force out competitors and only sell their products, they have become something else and should be honest about it. Look at the timing--Google just released a new Chromecast, Apple will be selling a new Apple TV at the end of the month. Amazon is stifling competitors, only 20% of their customers use Prime Video, so what is the real issue?
