In this memoir, Christina delves into the culture of late 1990's mega churches that led her family to move to war-torn Kosovo when she was fourteen. She takes us back to Kosovo after the 1999 war when the country was flooded with humanitarian aid organizations and missionaries, all with the goal to help the ethnic Albanians devastated by the war. The trials and triumphs of a young teenager desperately trying to establish herself as a helpful adult with all the responsibility that entails are examined in this frank memoir.

From her initial volunteering at church food drives to the first humanitarian aid trips to Russia and Mozambique, Christina discusses how a desire to help and nurture those around her began to spin out of control. Lauded for her common sense and problem-solving skills Christina's advice was sought on everything from arguments between spouses to aid distribution logistics. Throughout it all the desire to help drove everything she did and gave her the courage to persevere in the face of danger.
