help diagnose my Kobo's problem

I have a year and a half old refurbished Glo.

Battery was drained, so I plugged it in overnight to charge.

Battery's now at 100%.

I went to sideload two books from Calibre tonight. When I disconnected, it started to go through the processing screen, with 6% then flashed to done. Then it loaded the main page, but the books didn't appear.

So I deleted via Calibre, tried again. Same result.

Now, whenever I try to start reading any book already on the device, it loads a blank screen. If I tap the screen, eventually it goes back to the main home screen and says the book is finished.

Is this a corrupted database?

I did a pinhole reset, and the books already on the device seem to be working again. I'm wondering if I need to find time to do a complete factory reset and if this problem's likely to keep lurking if I don't.

I did finally on the fourth try get those two books and one other sideloaded.

Could leaving the ereader for a couple weeks without a charge have screwed up the database somehow?

Curious if anyone knows what might be going on. This is the first problem I've had with this Glo. Thanks.
