Honestly, I think even the tinfoil hat crowd would find the "deranged general wants to activate the mothership’s interstellar drive" to be a (overused) trope.
BTW, I'd be careful around that cat, it looks like it's ready to disembowel someone over the hat.
In your case it'd probably just unravel you, could be nasty.
