Not necessarily. For one thing, there is more than one way to download metadata. Hence, the action to start this will be described in different ways. And the preference covers all methods needs to cover all so can't be identical to all.

Correct, but "Metadata download" is the only on that is inconsistent with the similar type of preferences. The six plus "Metadata download" relate directly to actions. All of these have multiple ways of using them. The preference such as "Metadata plugboards", "Ignored devices" and "Plugins" are for a list of things that can be configured. Those things might be used by other functions.

My "preferences when adding books" was me trying to express how I read those preferences. And why I disagreed with you. It obviously wasn't clear, but, I can't think of a better way to express it. When it comes to the English language, while I am a native English speaker (ok, the Ozzie version) and can generally make myself clear, and fix other peoples language use, it's all fairly instinctual. If you asked me what grammar rules had been broken in a badly worded sentence, I couldn't tell you. And the idea of me trying to teach anyone anything about English grammar would have my wife

Don't worry, I haven't completely convinced myself. I think there is something wrong, but it isn't wrong enough to really worry me and I'm not sure of what would be correct to fix it.
