I would not recommend the h2o for heavy pdf reading. You can't pinch to zoom with it and it takes awhile for PDFs to render. To be fair though I haven't used any eink device that does PDFs anywhere near as good as a tablet. The h2o is great for ebooks- much better than my nst w glowlight, so if you ever want a device for just ebooks it gets 5 stars on that.

If you want a cheap tablet the google nexus 7 2013 versions sells for 150 bucks and won all kinds of awards. Steer clear of anything under 100 as battery life and quality just aren't there at that price point.
