A Series of Unfortunate Events. Young adult novels are not something that usually appeals to me, but as the author, Daniel Handler, who writes the series under the pen name of Lemony Snicket, has been in the news this week, I thought I'd give it a shot. I read the first five chapters this morning, and so far the novel's opening lines ring true.

As there's a bit of a dark streak in my makeup, I think I'm going to enjoy this one.
