Interesting topic. I don't have access to any Kobo hardware so feedback is always welcome.
I don't have idea how Calibre parse kepub files so can't shed any light on this issue.
@davidfor - About lack of generic profiles. It is part of KCC design. It simply create content targeted for single e-reader model. Kindle simply need it to achieve maximum quality. Kobo might not require that so much.
