The Afterglow 2 is indeed a rebranded Onyx C67ML.
TBH I prefer the Afterglow to the Boyue T62+ (in my case rebranded by Energy Systems). The afterglow is lighter and thinner, which is important for me because I carry it in my pocket. I see no difference in WiFi or app performance. Battery life is very good once I installed the latest Android update. On the other hand, the carta screen on the Boyue is better than the pearl screen on the Afterglow, and the Afterglow's small amount of app memory is a pain, but that is helped by the new firmware that lets apps move to internal user memory.
Oddly enough, the newest Onyx reader,
the inkBOOK, is a rebranded Boyue T62+.
It seems very similar to the Energy Systems version. The Afterglow is "out of stock". My guess is that it won't return.
The Afterglow didn't have the black-on-black problem for whatever reason. It is now fixed on the Boyue.
